And So It Begins...

It has begun.  I have started to lose my hair.

I knew it would happen, but it's still freaking me out.  I lost a bunch of hair when I had my c-sections four and eight years ago.  But this time will probably be more.  I'm frantically trying to get in all my protein in hopes that I won't go completely bald.

How long did you lose your hair?  How much did you lose?  Was it noticeable to others?  Any tips to reduce the loss?

  1. I've been through it after each of my kiddos was born, and now three cycles of it since starting my weight loss stuff in January.

I just hit the third round this week, and it's stressing me less each time, because my hair definitely comes back. Makes having neat hair a real hassle, though, as my hair is so many different lengths now.

*I* notice the loss, but I've only had one bout of hair loss that was noticeable to others (after my first birth). My hair is very fine and thin to begin with, so I got used to having to play games with it to make it look thicker a long time ago. LOL

I don't have any tips to reduce the loss other than to keep up with the protein and with daily multi-vitamins. Some people swear by biotin supplements, but I didn't notice any big difference and it wasn't worth the effort/cost for me to continue it.

  2. I've been losing a lot. Probably a full handful every time I take a shower. I don't mind it actually since I have really thick, extremely curly hair. It's just gross having to deal with it in the shower.

  3. I am also shedding a lot. So far, I haven't lost as much hair as I did after I had my son, but I definitely haven't had a shed like this in a very long time. I don't know how long it will last or how much overall volume I will lose. I am trying to be zen about it, but I have to admit, a big part of me is freaking out.

  4. Ahhh...it's one of my biggest fears! I'm sorry, I don't know what to tell you, except definitely eat your protein and take your vitamins. I haven't reached that point yet, but it's definitely already on my mind.

  5. I haven't had this as an issue yet, but probably because I haven't lost enough to cause hair loss. I've heard the biotin pills and or shampoo works, but haven't experienced first hand.
