Day One

Day one of my 5-day pouch test started off on the wrong foot.  I was awakened at 5:40 a.m. with a migraine.  Luckily, it was/is milder than my migraines usually are, so I was able to start the test today.

I started out my morning with a Carnation Breakfast Essentials shake (powder mix, 1 c. 1% milk, and a few ice cubes) at 7 a.m.  Blech, I had forgotten what it was like to drink those things.  Not entirely nasty, but not appetizing either.

When I got to work at 8:15 I had to drink a cup of caffinated coffee w/ SF coffeemate and it helped my migraine a little.  Now, of course, I have a bad case of the caffeine jitters.  I don't drink caffeine EVER, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

As soon as I'm done with this post I'm off to fill my water bottle (gotta get those 64 oz. in!) followed by a lunch of chicken noodle soup broth.  Because of the migraine this morning, I wasn't able to take time to prepare myself a decent liquid lunch.  I wanted to bring some SF pudding or jello, but that will have to wait for tomorrow.

Anyone else doing this with me?  How's it going?  What's your plan for today and tomorrow on liquids?

  1. I did it about a week ago and I was really pleased with the results - both reminding me that I can control what I do and I swear I'm tighter (in a good way) afterwards. Good luck! I found days 2 and 4 to be the hardest, but you can do it!!

  2. Today I had my protein shake for breakfast for lunch, followed by a bottle of water. For lunch I had some creamy tomato soup and am now working on bottle number two of water. I have to say, smelling my husband's delish smelling lunch was quite challenging, but I made him stay in a different room and I made it through! Best of luck to you!

  3. Great start! Hope you feel better.....

  4. I'm on Day 2. Yesterday I was ready to gnaw the side of my desk off. Oh how I miss my afternoon mini chocolate run around the office candy dishes.
    Yesterday I had:
protein shake for breakfast (Vanilla Premier Protein with frozen strawberries and ice - yum)
soup for lunch (Creamy Tomato Basil Bisque)
1 sugar free jello pudding mousse cup
    protein shake for dinner

Protein shake for breakfast - OJ, fat free vanilla yogurt, 1 1/2 scoops vanilla protein powder and ice cubes - blended (yummy again)
Soup (same as yesterday) for lunch and a chocolate calcium chew
    1 chocolate mousse jello cup
    Dinner??? Probably another protein shake.

Boring but it seems to be working - at least on the scale. Cravings are still here though.

    Good luck!

  5. I'm gonna gnaw off my arm to have something solid. Of course, my arm is mostly fat. So it wouldn't even do me any good nutrition-wise. Grr. :(

  6. okay... I know you do not normally respond to comments or questions, but maybe you can this time or someone else...
I am confused... what I read said 'protein only' but are we allowed to have juice, milk, fruit & other dairy products?
